IPGP's Striking Visual Transformation: A Century of Science
In a profound milestone marking its centenary, the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) embarked on a journey to redefine its visual identity. As a world-renowned research institution specializing in geo-sciences, IPGP's mission encompasses the study of Earth and planets, from the core to the most superficial fluid envelopes. With a diverse team of approximately 500 individuals, including researchers from across the globe, engineers, technicians, administrative staff, post-doctoral researchers, and students from various countries, IPGP shares a common passion for the Earth, planets, and the environment.
The occasion of its 100th anniversary prompted IPGP to contemplate a redesign of its logo and, more broadly, its visual identity. The previous logo had served for three decades, and the goal was to enhance its legibility, visibility, and timelessness to bolster its credibility.
Enter Graphéine, the agency entrusted with the task of shaping IPGP's new visual identity and crafting its graphic standards. The new logotype breathes fresh life into the previous identity, infusing it with greater impact and adaptability, all while preserving the DNA that had contributed to its renown. This pursuit of coherence extended to the harmonization of logos for its volcanological and seismological observatories.
IPGP's visual transformation stands as a testament to its enduring commitment to the sciences, marking a century of scientific exploration and discovery.
